Save My PC
Before you replace your Windows computer, find out whether it is actually worth saving. I’ll help you understand what’s wrong before recommending any repair, upgrade or replacement.
Which PC are we talking about?
Every Windows computer ages differently. Choose yours and I’ll guide you from there.
🖥️
Tower PC
Often the best value to keep going because many parts can be upgraded.
Tower PCs can often be modernised instead of replaced, especially if the case, power supply and main components are still healthy.
- Slow hard drives
- Windows 10 support ending
- Windows 11 compatibility checks
- RAM and SSD upgrade potential
- Dust, heat and performance issues
Best next step: tell me the age, processor if known, and what you use it for.

Laptop
Often affected by battery wear, storage, heat or Windows upgrade warnings.
Many laptops still have useful life left. The right answer depends on the model, condition, battery, storage and what you need it to do.
- Battery does not last
- Slow startup
- Windows 11 says unsupported
- Running hot or noisy
- Storage or memory limits
Best next step: tell me the laptop model and what is frustrating you.

All-in-One
Neat desktop PCs, but upgrade options vary a lot by model.
All-in-one PCs can be worth saving, but some are harder to upgrade than standard towers. I’ll check whether the cost makes sense before recommending work.
- Slow storage
- Ageing Windows installs
- Limited internal space
- Screen and casing condition
- Cost vs replacement value
Best next step: tell me the make, model and screen size if you know it.

Mini PC
Small PCs can be excellent everyday computers with the right setup.
Mini PCs are often overlooked. Some make brilliant everyday machines, media PCs or office computers when they are cleaned up and set up properly.
- Slow performance
- Small storage drives
- Windows update problems
- Office, home or media use
- Simple reliable desktop setups
Best next step: tell me the model and what you use it for.

Most people don’t need technical answers first. They need to know whether the problem is worth fixing.
Windows 10 support is ending
Your computer works, but you are seeing warnings about support, security or Windows 11.
Good news: this does not automatically mean you need a new PC. I can check whether upgrading, modernising or choosing another sensible route is the right decision. It says Windows 11 is unsupported
Your PC says it cannot upgrade because of TPM, processor, Secure Boot or other requirements.
This is one of the most common questions I see. Unsupported does not always mean useless — it means we need to check whether upgrading is sensible and safe for your computer. My PC is slow
Slow startup, freezing, apps taking ages to open or the computer feeling painful to use.
This is one of the most common problems I see, and there are often cost-effective solutions. Many older PCs feel slow because of ageing storage, not because the whole computer is finished.Storage is full or it’s running slow
You are running out of space, constantly deleting files or the machine takes too long to start.
Many PCs do not need replacing — they simply need modern SSD storage. An SSD upgrade is often one of the biggest improvements you can make and is usually a worthwhile investment.Laptop battery drains quickly
Your laptop no longer lasts, shuts down unexpectedly or only works properly when plugged in.
Replacing the battery at the right time can make a laptop much more useful again. I’ll also tell you honestly if the laptop itself is not worth further investment.Something else?
Your PC is doing something different, or you are not sure how to describe it?
Not every problem fits neatly into a list. Tell me what’s happening and I’ll give you an honest opinion on whether it’s worth repairing, upgrading or simply leaving alone. Is it worth saving?
Not every PC is worth repairing. Some can be transformed for a sensible cost. Others are better left alone.
I look at the whole picture: the age, condition, specification, what you use it for, and whether spending money makes sense.
“My computer has been completely transformed — I thought I needed a new one, but I didn’t.”
— The kind of result this page is built around
How old is your PC?Age matters, but it is not the whole story.
A newer low-spec PC can feel worse than an older machine with better parts inside. I look at the age, the generation of the processor, Windows support, and whether the computer still has a realistic useful life. I do not judge it by the year alone.
What condition is it in?Cosmetic marks are not always the deciding factor.
A scratched case, worn keyboard or tired-looking laptop does not automatically mean it should be replaced. What matters is whether the condition affects reliability, safety or makes repair uneconomical. I look at both the outside and what is happening inside.
What is inside it?Processor, memory and storage make a big difference.
Two PCs from the same year can perform very differently. The processor, RAM, storage type and graphics all affect whether it is still useful. A decent i5 or i7 with enough memory and an SSD can still be a very capable everyday computer.
How do you use your PC?The right advice depends on what you need it to do.
A PC used for email, web browsing, banking, photos and office work has very different needs from one used for gaming, video editing or demanding business software. My recommendation is based on your real use, not just the computer’s age.
Is it worth the investment? The real question is whether the outcome makes sense.
I do not just compare the repair cost with what the PC might sell for second-hand. I compare it with what replacing it would mean for you: the cost of a new computer, moving your data, reinstalling software and changing your setup. Sometimes the best advice is to upgrade. Sometimes it is to save your money.
