MacBook, Mac and Windows laptop battery replacement

Battery dying fast, or won’t hold charge?

A failing battery doesn’t mean the laptop is finished. I fit a replacement battery in MacBooks and most Windows laptops, check the rest of the machine at the same time, and dispose of the old cell safely.

Signs your battery needs replacing

Any of these usually point to the battery, not the whole machine.

Runtime has collapsed

What used to last hours now dies in minutes, or the laptop only works plugged in.

Sudden shutdowns

The battery shows charge left, then the machine switches off without warning.

“Service recommended” or health warning

macOS or Windows itself is telling you battery health has dropped — worth acting on before it fails outright.

The case doesn’t sit flat

Trackpad feels stiff, the bottom case bulges, or the laptop rocks on a table — possible swelling, see the safety note below.

MacBook, Mac mini & Windows laptop — same honest process

The battery itself differs, but the approach doesn’t: check first, quote in writing, replace, test.

🍏 MacBook & Mac battery replacement

Fitted replacement for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models where a battery is a sensible next step. I check the trackpad, case and charging system at the same time, since a failing battery can affect all three.

🖥️ Windows laptop battery replacement

New battery fitted in most Windows laptops (ThinkPad, Latitude, EliteBook and typical consumer models), old cell safely disposed of. If the model makes access difficult, I’ll say so honestly before any work.

Battery replacement guide prices

Guide figures — your exact price is confirmed after a free check, in writing, before any work.

MacBook battery replacement (fitted) From £129
MacBook battery replacement (premium retail cell) £189
Windows laptop battery replacement From £129

iMac and Mac mini/desktop machines don’t use a swappable battery in the same way — see Mac pricing for desktop servicing options.

Swollen battery? Stop using it.

A swollen battery is a physical safety issue, not just poor battery life. Lithium-ion cells can expand as they age or fail — the case bulging, a stiff trackpad, or the laptop rocking on a table are warning signs, not cosmetic quirks.

What to do: stop using and charging it, don’t press the case back into shape, place it on a hard non-flammable surface away from heat, and get it looked at. If it’s hot, smoking, hissing or smells unusual, move away and contact the emergency services.
